We Are The In Crowd - Best Intentions

We Are The In Crowd's debut album, Best Intentions, was released today, 3years after the formation of the band. With Taylor Jardine voicing the band obvious Paramore comparisons are drawn and on certain songs a presence of Hayley William's lingers. But when you push past an obvious screen you can see how We Are The In Crowd are their own band, with their own sound.

Jordan Eckes who plays guitar as well as producing vocals brings a different style to the band. The two voices run smoothly beside each other, instead of Jordan just helping out in the chorus every noe and then, he is as much a singer of the band as Taylor. The music also shares the voice of the band, with Cameron Hurley on guitar, Mike Ferri on bass and Rob Chianelli on the drums. But while the two singers show a difference in the band, the music is what to be expected from a pop-punk band - it's good, just not great. The album it's self highlights the effort that the band have put in and the result of effort plus development? Equals a good album on any account.

Overall this debut album is one the band should be proud of. It has all the details a debut should:
-A more developed description of the band than the EP
-A direction in which the band are heading
-What the band has achieved
And just like what's shown in every album ever made, what the band have to offer to the music industry.

Exit Ten

Exit Ten have recently released their second studio album, Give Me Infinity, and the video for Suggest A Path has also been completed. The video itself is captivating, but the music stands alone being so strong - possibly the strongest track on the c.d

The band have been referred to Muse and Biffy Clyro in the sense of the music. But Exit Ten also have the same power that's locked in both of those bands, the power holds it's source in Ryan Redman's voice. The fact the his accent shines through, is something that isn't often seen in singers yet his comes across bold and bright. It tags along this confidence, and grace while remaining to be a great voice that supports great music.

The future for Exit Ten? Well based on Give Me Infinity and tracks like Curtain Call and Life, it's look pretty good and what they bring to us in a few years time should be even better

My Chemical Romance - New Album Soon?

At Reading&Leeds this year My Chemical Romance hinted that new album is on horizon. The band are said to be in a very creative mode currently and want to channel that into a follow-up of 2010's Danger Days: Then True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys.
Although no work has properly started on it yet they are planning to head into the studio soon and start recording so there isn't a huge gap between gap between this album and the last.

Over their 10years career My Chemical Romance have released 4albums, and the music and the band have grown incredibly. From I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Love, in 2002, up until now the band has transformed dramatically. Danger Days shows us a different side to My Chemical Romance, for some people it turned them away from the band while for others it brought them in and then for the truly dedicated fans it was just another great album from a great band. So I'm sure the fans are keen to see what music this album lurking in the future will bring. It's whether the band remain with this happier sound or go back to the slightly heavier and darker music that got them this far in the first place.

However the biggest question of all is that due to the c.d coming along so quickly after the last, will it be a huge, life changing album that everyone remembers and always links to the band like the massive Black Parade in 2006. Or is it just something to fill the gap while the band plan their next move but still keep the fans interested - Only the future will tell. But no matter how big the album is or what sort of music it showcases this album will just add to the amazing career My Chemical Romance have.

We Are The Ocean - Overtime Is A Crime

We Are The Ocean's latest single 'Overtime Is A Crime' from this years Go Now And Live c.d was released late last week.

Overtime Is A Crime was one of the first We Are The Ocean songs I heard, and there's something about this video that reminds me of when I first discovered the band, when I first saw them live, and there's a beauty in that. The fact that just a video or song can bring back those memories, can bring back that feeling when you know you've discovered something amazing.

And that's what We Are The Ocean are. A Discovery. Because they aren't done yet, there's so much more they have to show us - and we can see this in Overtime Is A Crime. We can see the progression of the band along with the potential.

Although Go Now And Live isn't as heavy as Cutting Out Teeth was [mainly because Dan Brown has gone for more singing roles], Overtime Is A Crime reassures us that the power locked in tracks like Confessions and Nothing Good Has Happened Yet is still there.

So where to most Overtime Is A Crime is just a song, it's so much more to me and other We Are The Ocean songs. It's a beauty, a discovery, a memory, and most importantly, it's a reassurance

You Me At Six - Sinners Never Sleep

You Me At Six have had the potential to be some huge kick-ass rock band since day 1. And while many knew that all along it seems that it took the making of their latest album, Sinners Never Sleep, for the band themselves to realise it.

Sinners Never Sleep unleashes this raw intensity that has been brimming under the surface since Take Off Your Colours. Josh Franceschi's vocal range has widened dramatically and although Oli Skyes and Winston McCall were called in to take care of the heaviest vocal parts on 'Bite My Tongue' and 'Time Is Money', they don't over shadow Josh in order for his development to shine through.

The change in his voice is mainly down to the change in the songs. They lyrics have become deeper and more meaningful, shown in 'When We Were Younger'. The music itself is now more complex and the talent of each band member really comes out, especially in 'Loverboy' and 'The Dilemma'. The overall songs have progressed a lot, as we can see in 'Crash', which is like the older, wiser sibling of 'Always Attract' [Take Of Your Colours] and 'Fireworks' [Hold Me Down].

Before the guest vocalists were mentioned and their presence on the c.d really shows how serious the band are about changing their sound. How well the guest vocals fit in with the songs is a surprise to most. When it was first mentioned that Oli Skyes would be doing the guest vocals the majority of You Me At Six fans became apprehensive, questioning whether it would work and sound right. And I'm pleased to say it does. Having one of the heaviest singers these days feature on a former pop-punk bands c.d you have every right to worry. Yet it works and 'Bite My Tongue' has turned out to be one of the best songs on the c.d.

But their original sound still remains strong on songs like 'Reckless' and 'Jaws On The Floor'. However 'Little Death' shows us a guarantee that You Me At Six are changing and that their planning on getting rid of the pop-punk, alternative songs as quick as possible.

So where Take Off Your Colours was the start of the band, Sinners Never Sleep is the start of the real You Me At Six - and their pretty damn good.

Starting Off....

This blog is just an experiment to get the feel of reviewing things so it won't always be updated [only when something new comes to our attention] but if you want feel free to e-mail comments or suggestions, maybe if a new c.d's coming out that you know of we'll try to review it. Please tell other people about it, if you think it's interesting [obviously it's not at the moment].
The first review will be sometime next week on You Me At Six's new c.d Sinners Never Sleep.
